A bridge quite literally bridges a gap in your teeth. They are often used to support a crown or dental implant and are used to bond them to the natural teeth on either side of the crown or prosthetic tooth.
Firstly, we will carry out any necessary preperations required to ensure the bridge will fit in well with the rest of your teeth. This will be followed by a digital impression of your teeth, recording of measurements and choosing the shade or colour of the bridge together with you. All of the information is sent off to a lab technician who will make your bridge.
When the bridge is ready to be fitted, youβll return to us here at Hampstead Dental Studio. Weβll then use a local anaesthetic so you donβt feel anything while the treatment is happening, at which point, we will fit your bridge.
Bridges are most commonly made of precious metal and/or porcelain. Your dentist will discuss the available options and advise what is most suitable for your teeth.
You can care for your bridge as you would the rest of your natural teeth by brushing for two minutes twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and flossing regularly. Youβll also have to clean under the bridge to make sure food and debris are removed. For this, we can recommend a special dental floss.
