We might need to perform a tooth extraction because you have a tooth that has been damaged or is decayed beyond the point of repair. You might also have an overcrowded mouth and we may recommend the removal of teeth before straightening them, to make it easier for you to clean them.
We will place you under local anaesthetic so you won’t feel pain while the treatment is happening. We will then gently loosen the tooth that’s being extracted and gently remove it from the socket. You might then need a few stitches to help you heal.
We will, of course, go through all aftercare needs with you here, but it’s very important to keep the wound clean. You’re also quite likely to feel some pain and experience some swelling once the local anaesthetic has worn off. An over the counter painkiller like ibuprofen should help with this.
